For more than two decades Mário Luiz Thompson
has been making photos of the most varied composers, interpreters, and
instrumentalists of Brazil. His photos became not only the source of records'
covers (for both the front and the back covers) but also generated fundamental
documentation for understanding of the evolution of "Brazilian Popular
Music", which is one of the most admired and respected in the world.
The "Bem Te Vi MPB" project was created by the photograph studio
"Bem Te Vi Arte Brasil" with the purpose of recuperating, preserving
and divulging the collection of Mário Luiz Thompson, which today comprises
more than 100,000 entries. The necessary money has been raised through
the sale of publications, of exhibits and cultural
events being held, such as the "Tertúlias Bem Te Vi", an event
that will soon be launched as a TV program called "Arte Brasil"
(Brazilian Art).
