For a singer, Nana Caymmi was born (in Rio de Janeiro, in 1941) with a silver spoon in her mouth: daughter of the baiano Dorival Caymmi, one of the most important composers of Brazilian music of the past and of all time, author of international hits by Carmen Miranda like "O que é que a baiana tem"(What does the girl from Bahia have), and Stella Maris, a singer. Apart from this, her brothers, Dori and Danilo Caymmi are also instrument players, arrangers, singers and respected and successful composers.

The family, one of the most musically gifted in Brazil, has come together several times on stage (without the mother, who abandoned the career early on). But the best way to get to know Nana is by her solo shows, when one can verify why the particular bass timbre of her voice, the brightness and density of her interpretations guarantee her a very special place among the great women’s voices of Brazil.
