Nelson Roberto Pérez (Bob Nelson) was born in Campinas , São Paulo, in 1918. He worked as traveling salesman until he started his career at "Radio Educativa de Campinas". In 1943 he adopted the style that would characterize him. Inspired by the singing of the Tyrol's and the films of Gene Autry, he presented himself dressed up as a cowboy. He was very successful, including in the USA, where he his version of "O Suzana" was launched. He got so far as to put on a presentation for General Mac Arthur. In 1946 he was one of the main artists of "Radio Nacional" and acted in several movies. Among his great hits, the songs "O Boi Barnabé", "Eu Tiro o Leite" and "Te Aguenta, Mané". are included.
